Space, the final frontier: Our first look at the brand new Starlux Galactic lounge in Taipei

new Galactic Lounge at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport is truly out of this world. With its sleek design and futuristic features, it feels like stepping onto the set of a Star Trek movie. The lounge is exclusively available to Starlux elite members, as well as first class and business class passengers. Unfortunately, Priority Pass or any other club program passes are not accepted.

The lounge is open from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily, and it is located in Terminal 2 near gate D7. While most Starlux flights depart from Terminal 1, the Galactic Lounge in Terminal 2 is reserved for long-haul flights, particularly those to the United States.

Upon entering the lounge, guests are greeted by sliding doors that lead to the main level. The interior is a steel gray color, reminiscent of a Star Trek spaceship. The decor is minimalistic, with pops of bright yellow to break up the metallic hues. Even the employee uniforms have a stylish and futuristic design.

The main level of the lounge features a spacious seating area with chairs and padded benches. There are plenty of outlets, including standard sockets and USB ports, both underneath the benches and built into the freestanding tables. Restrooms are located at the back of the lounge and feature automatic toilets with bidet functions.

For those looking to relax or freshen up, there is a lower level with additional seating and showers. The showers have high water pressure and are equipped with Toto washlet toilets. There are also plenty of bathroom amenities available.

While there is no spa or nap room in the lounge, there are plenty of other amenities to keep guests entertained. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available, and the internet speed is sufficient for streaming Netflix. The service provided by the staff is exceptional, with employees going above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.

One of the highlights of the Galactic Lounge is the food and drink options. Guests can order a la carte from a QR code menu by taking a photo of their table number with their mobile phone. The menu offers a variety of hot dishes, including shredded chicken, beef sukiyaki, gua bao, and Japanese style tofu burger. There is also a buffet area with a wide selection of hot and cold items, desserts, salads, and other dishes. The drink options include a range of non-alcoholic beverages, as well as top-shelf liquor and wine.

Overall, the Starlux Galactic Lounge is a must-visit for Starlux elite members and premium passengers. Its sleek design, ample seating, and excellent service make for a truly enjoyable experience. Whether you’re a fan of Star Trek or not, this lounge is sure to impress. So, the next time you find yourself at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, make sure to check out the Galactic Lounge and prepare to be blown away.
