The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, but it can also be a time of stress and chaos, especially when it comes to traveling. The days leading up to major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of the busiest travel days of the year, with millions of people trying to get to their destinations on time. Luckily, Lyft is stepping up to help ease the stress of holiday travel with a few new features.
One of the most exciting features Lyft is introducing this holiday season is their “on-time pickup promise.” Starting on Thursday, prescheduled airport rides will be covered by this guarantee, ensuring that your ride arrives on time or you will be compensated. Lyft CEO David Risher explains, “Every minute counts when you’re on the way to the airport. We’re so confident that we can get you there on time that if we’re more than ten minutes late for your scheduled pick-up, we’ll give you up to $100 in Lyft credits to make up for it – even if you take a taxi or an Uber.”
This on-time pickup promise is a game changer for travelers who rely on Lyft to get them to the airport on time. By scheduling your ride in advance, you can lock in your pickup date, time, and price, giving you one less thing to worry about. Scheduled rides are also given priority when it comes to being matched with a driver, so you can feel confident that your ride will be there when you need it. Even with these precautions, travel delays can still happen, especially during the busy holiday season. If your driver is more than 10 minutes late, you will automatically receive $20 in Lyft Cash credit. If you’re not matched with a driver 10 minutes after your scheduled pickup time, you will receive $50 in Lyft Cash credit. And if you aren’t matched with a driver and end up using another company for your ride, Lyft will compensate you with up to $50 more in Lyft Cash if your ride with the other company costs more than $50. However, you must contact Lyft through the help section of their app to submit the receipt from your alternate transportation to be compensated for the additional $50.
Lyft’s on-time pickup promise is currently available in major markets such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. When you schedule your airport ride, you will see a note in the app indicating that this feature is available in your area.
In addition to the on-time pickup promise, Lyft is also introducing an “Extra Comfort” feature for most rides. With this feature, travelers can enjoy a more relaxing and comfortable ride from the moment they step into the car. Rides designated as “Extra Comfort” will offer roomier cars, top-rated drivers, and preset preferences for temperature, a quiet ride, or luggage assistance. This new feature is perfect for those who want to unwind and de-stress during their holiday travels.
These new features come on the heels of Lyft’s successful launch of Women+ Connect, a feature that matches women and nonbinary riders and drivers in select cities. Jody Kelman, Executive Vice President of Customers at Lyft, explains, “Women carry a disproportionate amount of holiday stress, taking on the mental load of planning celebrations, travel, and all the logistics that come with it. Our goal is to make getting where you’re going easier and less stressful. Whether you’re getting the family to the airport or coming home from a late-night holiday party, Lyft is making life easier and stress-free.”
With Lyft’s new features and guarantees, travelers can feel more confident and relaxed during their holiday travels. Whether you’re heading to the airport to catch a flight or just need a ride to a holiday party, Lyft is there to make your journey easier and stress-free. So this holiday season, sit back, relax, and let Lyft take care of your transportation needs.
