If you’ve ever visited Phoenix or Scottsdale, Arizona, you know that the area is packed with luxury hotels and resorts. Well-known brands like Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt operate many of these properties, offering a range of options for travelers. However, when a new luxury hotel comes onto the scene, people often wonder who owns and manages it. In the case of The Global Ambassador, a brand-new hotel in Phoenix, the owner is none other than Sam Fox, a renowned chef and CEO of Fox Restaurant Concepts.
TPG recently had the opportunity to get an exclusive sneak peek inside The Global Ambassador, which is set to open its doors to the public on December 6th. Reservations are available now, with rates starting at $650 per night. The hotel is also planning to partner with major luxury consortia groups, such as Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Chase’s Luxury Resort & Hotel Collection, and Mr & Mrs Smith, which will provide additional ways to save money and enjoy perks during your stay.
Located just 6 miles north of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, The Global Ambassador occupies a prime location at the intersection of 44th Street and Camelback Road. This puts it in close proximity to both the airport and the city of Scottsdale. If you’re not renting a car, there are plenty of transportation options available, including Uber, Lyft, taxis, and Waymo autonomous vehicles. The hotel can also arrange for a car service if needed.
Sam Fox’s vision for The Global Ambassador is to create a hotel that is in touch with the modern traveler. He has seen firsthand how the hotel industry can be disjointed when different companies are responsible for ownership, management, and other operations. With The Global Ambassador, Fox aims to do things differently. He has appointed Geoff Gray as the managing director and general manager of the hotel. Gray has over 12 years of experience at Hyatt and has previously managed other luxury resorts in California and Phoenix.
One of the standout features of The Global Ambassador is its unrivaled attention to detail. The hotel features globally curated products inspired by Fox’s travels, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere for guests. Fox collaborated with Judith Testani from Testani Design Troupe, who has shaped the design of many of his restaurants and other spaces. The same level of attention to detail that you would find in Fox’s restaurants can be seen throughout the hotel.
The exterior of The Global Ambassador is reminiscent of European architecture, with white limestone brick, striped awnings, and black wrought iron balconies. However, it blends seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood. The hotel is situated on 3 acres of land, strategically positioned to take advantage of the afternoon sun and offer stunning views of Camelback Mountain.
When you step inside the hotel, you’ll be greeted by a lobby that exudes luxury. The marble floors, deep olive green accent walls, and custom wood pillars create a sophisticated ambiance. The lobby is not just a place to check-in or ask for recommendations; it’s a gathering space complete with a bar, floor-to-ceiling windows, and outdoor event spaces. Comfortable velvet sofas and chairs are positioned around marble coffee tables, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
The Global Ambassador also offers five new dining concepts, each with its own unique style and menu. Le Market is a French-inspired patisserie serving coffee and pastries, while Le Ame is a Parisian steakhouse with leather booths and marble-topped tables. Thea is a rooftop Mediterranean restaurant that offers stunning views of the valley, and there are two other dining options available as well. All restaurants, except for the private members club, will be open to both the public and hotel guests.
Overall, The Global Ambassador promises to be a standout luxury hotel in Phoenix. With its attention to detail, unique dining concepts, and prime location, it’s sure to attract both locals and travelers from around the world. Whether you’re looking for a luxurious getaway or a place to host an event, The Global Ambassador is worth considering.
