The worst-kept filming location secret in Hollywood has finally been confirmed. The Tourism Authority of Thailand and HBO have officially announced that the third season of “The White Lotus” will be filmed in Thailand. This news confirms earlier reports that filming would take place in the southeast Asian country and explore themes of death, Eastern religion, and spirituality.
“The White Lotus,” created by Mike White, first debuted in 2021 after filming during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. Part of the show’s appeal was that it could be filmed safely in a closed-set bubble.
Janet Graham Borba, executive vice president of production for HBO and Max, expressed excitement about partnering with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to showcase the beauty of the country. She stated, “We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus.”
Rumors have been circulating about which Four Seasons property will serve as the backdrop for the third season of “The White Lotus.” According to Hollywood chatter and a blocked-out reservations page, it appears that Thailand’s Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui will be the chosen location. The reservations page shows that the hotel isn’t accepting any bookings from later this month through late March, which aligns with earlier reports that production is set to begin in early February.
The Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is a popular destination for luxury travelers. Its secluded location on Koh Samui island offers a peaceful retreat away from the bustling beach town of Bo Phut. The property features a variety of accommodations, including pool villas, beachfront villas, elevated villas with ocean views, and private residences. This means that the fictional guests of “The White Lotus” will have plenty of options for their stay.
In addition to luxurious accommodations, the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers a range of amenities and activities. Guests can enjoy a session with an on-site professional Muay Thai kickboxer and trainer or indulge in high-end spa treatments, including alfresco oceanfront massages. The resort also boasts several dining options, including a Thai restaurant, a Mediterranean option, and a pool bar serving tapas and drinks.
Guests can relax by the oceanfront infinity pool or participate in activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. The resort’s stellar service ensures that guests are well taken care of, with complimentary amenities like mini-barbecue stations, scented cold towels, juice shots, fresh fruit, and facial sprays. There is even a Kids for All Seasons club to keep children entertained and drama-free.
While the cast for the third season of “The White Lotus” has yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that Natasha Rothwell, who played spa worker Belinda in the first season, will be returning. Fans will have to wait for further announcements to see who else will be joining the cast.
Overall, the confirmation of Thailand as the filming location for the third season of “The White Lotus” has generated excitement among fans of the show. The combination of Thailand’s stunning landscapes, the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, and the intriguing themes explored in the series promises to make the upcoming season a must-watch.
