Austrian Airlines to launch nonstop Vienna service from Boston

New England travelers will soon have another direct connection to Europe, as Austrian Airlines is set to launch nonstop service from Boston Logan International Airport to Vienna Airport in Austria. This new route, which will have five to six weekly round trips, will be the airport’s first nonstop connection to the Austrian capital city.

The new service is scheduled to begin on July 1, providing travelers with a multitude of options for their summer travel plans. They can choose to explore Vienna itself and stay in one of its best hotels, such as the Park Hyatt Vienna, or they can use the flight as a connecting point to other European cities via Austrian Airlines or its Star Alliance partners.

The arrival of Austrian Airlines in Boston marks an expansion of Lufthansa Group’s presence in the city and the United States. Logan Airport, already a major hub for transatlantic travel, will now be served by three major Lufthansa Group carriers, including Lufthansa and Swiss.

Austrian Airlines will serve at least six U.S. airports from Vienna, including Los Angeles International Airport, Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, Virginia’s Dulles International Airport, and both Newark Liberty International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport in the New York City area. This demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing convenient travel options for passengers traveling between the United States and Europe.

The Boston-to-Vienna service will be operated with Austrian Airlines’ Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which has a 211-seat capacity. The three-cabin aircraft features 24 business-class pods, 30 premium economy seats, and 157 seats in coach. One of the highlights of the airline’s business class service is its “Flying Chef” program, which offers meals prepared by onboard chefs and onboard sommeliers to recommend wine pairings.

The flight schedule for the Boston-to-Vienna route will depart at 5:10 p.m. and arrive at 7:25 a.m. the next day. The return flight from Vienna to Boston will depart at 10:40 a.m. and arrive at 1:40 p.m. The airline will initially offer flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as every other Tuesday.

With over 50 international destinations already available from Boston, the addition of the Vienna route provides even more options for travelers looking to reach Europe without any layovers. This new route will be particularly attractive to those planning a trip to Europe in the second half of the summer.

In conclusion, the launch of Austrian Airlines’ nonstop service from Boston to Vienna is an exciting development for New England travelers. The new route expands the options for direct travel to Europe and strengthens the presence of Lufthansa Group in Boston and the United States. With its comfortable aircraft and premium services, Austrian Airlines is sure to provide a pleasant travel experience for passengers flying between the two cities.
