Breeze Airways Expands Its Routes from Raleigh, North Carolina
Breeze Airways, the latest startup airline founded by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, has recently announced three new routes from its focus city of Raleigh, North Carolina. This expansion will provide even more destination options for travelers in the region.
Starting on May 23, Breeze Airways will start operating flights between Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (BTV) in Vermont, as well as Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) in New York, for the summer season. The following day, the airline will also begin service to Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Maine.
Flights to Burlington and Syracuse will be available on Thursdays and Sundays, while flights to Portland will operate on Mondays and Fridays. Breeze Airways will be offering introductory fares on these new routes, with prices ranging from $59 each way for flights to Syracuse to $79 for one-way flights to Burlington and Portland. Travelers must book their flights by February 5th for travel through September 3rd.
With the addition of these new routes, Breeze Airways now offers a total of 15 destinations from Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Earlier this month, the carrier also announced flights to San Diego from Raleigh. This expansion reflects the growing demand and popularity of the Raleigh-Durham region as a travel destination.
Tom Doxey, the President of Breeze Airways, expressed excitement about the addition of these new routes, stating, “Raleigh-Durham and the greater Research Triangle have shown to be a fast-growing destination and origin. We have seen great demand in the region, and we are excited to bring more affordable and convenient destinations to our guests, now with 15 nonstop destinations on sale.”
Breeze Airways operates with a point-to-point operating model, focusing on nonstop flights between smaller markets that may not have direct air connectivity. The airline initially launched in 2021, operating short flights of less than two hours using leased Embraer E190 and E195 regional jets from Azul Brazilian Airlines. Last year, Breeze Airways received its first new Airbus A220, which has the range to connect any two cities in the continental U.S. This allows Breeze Airways to expand its operations and offer longer-range routes between smaller airports.
Despite recent reports suggesting financial struggles for Breeze Airways, the airline has experienced rapid expansion since its inception. As of June, Breeze Airways operates over 140 routes between 48 destinations, according to data from Cirium. This growth demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and convenient air travel options for travelers in underserved markets.
In conclusion, Breeze Airways’ announcement of three new routes from Raleigh, North Carolina, highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding its operations and providing more destination options for travelers. With affordable fares and convenient flight schedules, Breeze Airways aims to cater to the growing demand for air travel in the region. Despite potential financial challenges, the airline’s rapid expansion demonstrates its determination to succeed in the competitive aviation industry.
