Capital One launches real-time lounge capacity tracker and waitlist in its app

As of Friday, Capital One loungegoers can now take advantage of new features that allow them to view lounge capacity ahead of their visit and remotely join the waitlist if necessary. This update was announced in an email sent out by the bank early Friday, stating that these features are now live in the Capital One mobile app for a majority of eligible cardholders, with a full rollout expected in the coming weeks.

To access these new features, users simply need to open the Capital One mobile app and select the “Travel” tab, followed by “Lounges.” From there, they can enter the specific lounge they plan to visit in the search bar to check real-time availability. If the desired lounge has a waitlist, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business cardholders can digitally join the waitlist queue by selecting “Join waitlist” and providing their name, phone number, and party size. The app will then provide an estimated wait time, which will also be sent via text message.

Once a spot becomes available, users will receive a notification via text with a 15-minute window to arrive at the lounge. If plans change or if they are running late, users can notify the lounge within the designated wait period. These new features provide added flexibility and convenience for travelers using Capital One airport lounges.

As of February, Capital One operates three airport lounges: the Capital One Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), the Capital One Lounge at Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport (IAD), and the Capital One Lounge at Denver International Airport (DEN). A fourth lounge is also planned for Las Vegas. Access to these lounges is primarily granted through the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, which offers unlimited access for cardholders and their authorized users, as well as complimentary entry for up to two guests per visit. The Capital One Venture X Business card also provides unlimited access. For those without access through a card, entry can be purchased for $65 per person.

If users prefer to join the waitlist in person or do not use the Capital One app, they can still do so by visiting the lounge reception desk. They will receive a text notification when it is time to enter the lounge. These new features bring Capital One in line with other credit card issuers like American Express, which also offer capacity indicators and waitlist capabilities for their lounges.

In conclusion, the addition of real-time capacity indicators and remote waitlist capabilities enhances the overall lounge experience for Capital One cardholders. These new features provide greater convenience and flexibility for travelers, allowing them to better plan their lounge visits and avoid unnecessary wait times. With the continued rollout of these features, more cardholders will be able to take advantage of these benefits and enjoy a more seamless airport lounge experience.
