Celebrate Black History Month with a donation earning up to 10 United miles per dollar spent

Black History Month is a time to celebrate and honor the contributions of African Americans throughout history. It is also a time to acknowledge the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality. This year, United Airlines, Chase, and Visa have partnered to support several non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting human and civil rights policies for racial justice and educational opportunities for Black students.

As part of this partnership, customers with select cobranded United credit cards have the opportunity to earn up to 10 MileagePlus miles per dollar spent on eligible donations through March 31, with a maximum of $1,500 spent. The earning structure is as follows: 5 miles per $1 on the first $500 donated, and 10 miles per $1 on the next $1,000 in donations.

To put this into perspective, The Points Guy (TPG) values MileagePlus miles at 1.45 cents each. This means that for every dollar donated, customers are essentially receiving a rebate of approximately 7-14% on their donation. This is not only a great way to support social justice causes, but also an opportunity to earn valuable United miles.

There are three charities participating in this promotion, and donations made to these organizations will earn bonus miles. Customers can initiate their donations through United’s website or directly with the charities. It is important to note that in order to be eligible for the bonus miles, customers must be the primary cardholder on any of the eligible United cobranded credit cards.

United recommends donating directly to a charity’s parent organization to ensure that bonus miles will be awarded. Donations made to individual chapters may not trigger the bonus. Additionally, donations must be made by March 31 to qualify for the bonus miles. While there is no limit to the amount that can be donated, bonus miles will only be awarded on donations up to $1,500. It may take up to eight weeks for the bonus miles to be posted to the customer’s account.

If a customer holds more than one of the eligible United cobranded credit cards, they have the opportunity to maximize the promotion on each card. For example, a customer could make a $1,500 donation with their United Club Infinite Card and another $1,500 donation with their United Business Card, earning up to 12,500 miles per donation, or a total of 25,000 miles.

This partnership between United Airlines, Chase, and Visa not only encourages support for important social justice causes, but also provides customers with an opportunity to earn valuable miles. By leveraging their credit card spending, customers can make a difference in the fight for racial justice and equality while also benefiting from travel rewards. It’s a win-win situation that combines philanthropy and travel in a meaningful way.

In conclusion, Black History Month is a time to reflect on the achievements and struggles of African Americans throughout history. United Airlines, Chase, and Visa are partnering to support non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting racial justice and educational opportunities for Black students. Customers with select cobranded United credit cards have the opportunity to earn bonus MileagePlus miles for eligible donations. This partnership not only allows customers to support important causes, but also provides them with the chance to earn valuable travel rewards. It’s a meaningful way to make a difference and be rewarded for it.
