Delta’s futuristic first-class recliners are coming to the Boeing 737

Delta Air Lines has announced that it will be installing its futuristic domestic first-class recliner on its Boeing 737-800 fleet. This seat, which was first introduced on the Airbus A321neo in May 2022, has received positive reviews from travelers for its new design and enhanced features. The new first-class seats feature large privacy wings, extra storage areas, and enhanced inflight entertainment systems. Delta will install 16 of these seats on each Boeing 737-800 in a 2-2 configuration, providing a more luxurious and comfortable experience for passengers. In addition to the new first-class seats, Delta will also retrofit the rest of the jet with new economy seats. The main upgrade at the back of the plane will be new 11-inch seatback inflight entertainment systems, offering passengers the latest upgrades from Panasonic. The lavatories will also be refreshed, featuring touchless flushing and hand-washing sensors. Unfortunately, Delta did not install new oversized overhead bins on these planes, so passengers may still need to gate-check their carry-on bags during full flights. However, the overall cabin upgrades and amenities will greatly enhance the passenger experience. The first retrofitted Boeing 737-800, registered as N3744F, reentered service on January 20 and will gradually be introduced to Delta’s network. The remaining 76 Boeing 737-800s will also receive cabin upgrades in the coming months and years, with the entire process expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Delta has expressed its commitment to maintaining an elevated and premium customer experience, and the cabin upgrades are part of its ongoing efforts to improve the aircraft interiors. The airline has also teased that it will be sharing more details about its premium products in the near future, possibly including its upcoming premium-heavy Airbus A321neo configuration featuring lie-flat pods and premium economy recliners. Delta has been focused on chasing premium revenues and positioning itself as the country’s most premium airline. The introduction of the new first-class recliner and other product enhancements is aimed at upgrading the onboard experience for passengers. While United Airlines has also introduced its own version of a new first-class recliner, Delta’s remains the most futuristic and advanced option available in the domestic market. The expansion of Delta’s new domestic first-class recliner is exciting for loyal Delta customers, as it means that even the oldest jets in the fleet will be updated with modern and luxurious cabins. The outdated cabins with small seatback screens will be replaced by state-of-the-art amenities, providing a more enjoyable and comfortable flying experience. Overall, Delta’s installation of its futuristic domestic first-class recliner on the Boeing 737-800 fleet is a significant upgrade for the airline and its passengers. With enhanced features, improved inflight entertainment, and a more luxurious design, Delta continues to prioritize the customer experience and maintain its position as a premium airline in the industry.
