Hyatt club lounge access award: Can you use it for someone else?

The World of Hyatt loyalty program is known for its generous rewards and perks for its members. One of the standout benefits of the program is the Milestone Rewards, which are offered to members who reach certain milestones in their membership. These Milestone Rewards include club lounge access awards, which allow members to enjoy the luxury and exclusivity of Hyatt’s club lounges during their stays.

To earn club lounge access awards, members must reach certain milestones in a calendar year. Specifically, members will earn two club lounge access awards after staying 20 qualifying nights or earning 35,000 base points in a year. Additionally, members will earn two more club lounge access awards after staying 30 qualifying nights or earning 50,000 base points in a year.

Once earned, club lounge access awards are valid for the calendar year they were earned, plus an additional 14 months. Members can easily track their awards and their expiration dates through the Awards section of their account. It’s important to note that these awards can only be redeemed for reservations with a checkout date on or before the award’s expiration date. Additionally, club lounge access awards are only valid for stays of seven consecutive nights or less.

It’s also worth mentioning that not all Hyatt properties participate in the club lounge access award program. Only stays at participating Hyatt properties with a club lounge qualify for club lounge access award redemptions, and access is always subject to availability and space limitations. Some Hyatt brands, such as Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Miraval, Destination by Hyatt Residences, and Hyatt Vacation Club hotels and resorts, do not accept these awards.

To use a club lounge access award at a participating property, members must pay an eligible rate or redeem points for a standard room free night award, a suite free night award, or a points and cash award. It’s important to note that club lounge access awards cannot be used with any other free night awards, including those earned through the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the Hyatt Brand Explorer promotion. Additionally, these awards cannot be redeemed for stays at hotels or resorts that have not yet opened.

One question that often arises is whether club lounge access awards can be used for someone else. Unfortunately, the World of Hyatt terms state that club lounge access awards are not eligible for gifting or transfer. However, there are still ways for members to share their World of Hyatt perks with other travelers. For example, members can book multiple rooms per night at the same hotel or resort and apply their club lounge access awards to the additional rooms in their reservation. Additionally, Globalist members can book Guest of Honor awards for other travelers, which allows them to enjoy Globalist perks, including club lounge access, during their stay.

In conclusion, the World of Hyatt loyalty program offers its members Milestone Rewards, including club lounge access awards, as a way to enhance their travel experiences. While these awards cannot be gifted or transferred to others, there are still opportunities for members to share their perks with travel companions. The club lounge access awards are a valuable benefit for lower-level elite members who don’t already have access through their status, and they can enjoy the luxury and exclusivity of Hyatt’s club lounges during their stays.
