Is the World of Hyatt Business card worth the annual fee?

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card is designed to offer substantial value to business owners who are loyal to the Hyatt brand or frequently spend money at Hyatt properties. However, before deciding if this card is the right choice for you, it’s important to consider its $199 annual fee and whether you can justify the cost.

One of the main benefits of the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card is its welcome offer. New applicants can earn up to 75,000 bonus points by meeting certain spending requirements. This includes 60,000 points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening, and an additional 15,000 bonus points after spending $12,000 in the first six months. The Points Guy values World of Hyatt points at 1.7 cents each, making the full bonus worth up to $1,275.

When it comes to redeeming your World of Hyatt points, the most straightforward option is to use them for hotel stays. This includes not only Hyatt-branded properties but also Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties. You can use your points for free night awards, Points + Cash payments, dining, spa or meeting credits, Find Experiences, rental cars, and room upgrades. Additionally, you can top up your World of Hyatt account with 1:1 transfers from Chase Ultimate Rewards, which adds to the flexibility and value of your points.

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card also offers up to $100 in annual credits. Cardholders receive a $50 statement credit when they spend $50 or more at Hyatt hotels and resorts, and this credit can be used twice per year. If you can take advantage of these credits, it effectively brings the card’s annual fee down to $99.

Furthermore, by holding onto the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you can earn stay credits toward elite status through spending. For every $10,000 you spend each calendar year, you receive five tier-qualifying night credits. Additionally, if you and your employees collectively spend at least $50,000 in a calendar year, you’ll get a 10% bonus points back on up to a total of 200,000 World of Hyatt points you redeem for various awards and services. These perks can be beneficial if you plan on spending a significant amount on a hotel stay during the year.

As a World of Hyatt Business cardholder, you also receive complimentary Discoverist status each year. While Discoverist status is the second-lowest tier in the World of Hyatt loyalty program, it still offers some decent perks such as discounted hotel rates for members, complimentary bottled water, late checkout, preferred room upgrades, and waived resort fees when staying at a hotel using points or free night awards.

In addition to these benefits, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card provides various travel protections, including trip delay reimbursement, baggage delay insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, lost luggage reimbursement, and trip interruption and cancellation insurance. You’ll also earn World of Hyatt points on every purchase, with 4 points per dollar spent at Hyatt hotels and participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations, and 2 points per dollar spent on fitness club and gym membership purchases, as well as in your top three spending categories each quarter.

While the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card offers several valuable benefits, it’s important to consider if these perks align with your spending habits and travel preferences. If you can take full advantage of the $100 in annual credits and find yourself frequently staying at Hyatt properties, the annual fee of $199 can be effectively reduced to $99. However, if you are only an occasional Hyatt guest, a general travel rewards credit card or the personal version of this card may be a better choice. Ultimately, the decision depends on your individual circumstances and travel needs.
