Marriott and MGM Resorts roll out details of upcoming loyalty partnership

The world’s largest hotel company, Marriott International, and the largest operator of casino resorts, MGM Resorts International, are set to launch a new partnership that will bring together their respective loyalty programs. This collaboration comes after MGM Resorts ended its previous loyalty partnership with Hyatt.

While the specific launch date of the Marriott and MGM partnership has not been made public, the companies have released details on how the partnership will benefit members of their loyalty programs. One key aspect of the partnership is the ability for guests to book MGM Resorts properties, such as Bellagio Las Vegas, Aria Resort & Casino, and MGM Grand, through Marriott’s website and the Marriott Bonvoy app.

For Marriott Bonvoy members, the partnership offers several benefits based on their elite status. Silver Elite members will earn a 10% bonus on qualifying charges, while Gold Elite members will earn a 25% bonus and receive a welcome gift of 500 Bonvoy points per stay. Platinum Elite members will enjoy a 50% bonus, enhanced room upgrades, priority check-in, and a choice of a welcome gift of 1,000 Bonvoy points or a $15 food and beverage credit per night. Titanium Elite members will receive a 75% bonus, the same enhanced room upgrades, and a similar welcome gift choice. Ambassador Elite members will enjoy all the benefits of Titanium Elite, plus waived resort fees, a suite upgrade at a Las Vegas hotel each year, early check-in, late check-out, complimentary self-parking, priority access on dining and check-in, and 15% retail discounts.

In addition to these benefits, there will also be a status match option for MGM Rewards members who enroll in Marriott Bonvoy. MGM Rewards Gold members can match to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, Platinum members can match to Gold Elite status, and NOIR members can match to Ambassador Elite status. These matches come with corresponding benefits, such as reservation guarantees, free in-room Wi-Fi, late check-out, and bonus points on eligible spending.

It is important to note that while MGM Rewards members can match their status into Marriott Bonvoy, the reverse is not true. Marriott Bonvoy members will rely on their existing status with Marriott when staying at MGM properties and will enjoy the loyalty perks mentioned above. This differs from the previous partnership between MGM Resorts and Hyatt, where World of Hyatt members could gain MGM Rewards status corresponding to their loyalty tier.

Overall, this partnership between Marriott and MGM Resorts offers exciting opportunities for loyalty program members of both companies. Marriott Bonvoy members will have access to more options and loyalty perks at casino resorts, especially in destinations like Las Vegas. On the other hand, MGM Rewards members will benefit from the ability to tier match into the Marriott Bonvoy program. The companies have emphasized that this partnership is meant to be long-lasting and more substantial than previous collaborations. As the launch date approaches, further details on the partnership are expected to emerge, deepening the bond between these hospitality giants.
